HAPPY Reading Place for Families
Begun as an initiative of the non-profit HAPPY Reading, founded and managed by Angie, this project equips Virginia laundromats with places for children and families to sit and read together while waiting for the wash. In addition, each site has special bins that allow children 18 and younger to select reading material to own, giving them the chance to build their home libraries with new titles each week.

Creator of website meant to bring greater attention to positive news stories and possible solutions to serious challenges facing the world. Topics range from curing illnesses to honoring elders to solving homelessness and much more.

Founder, administrator and sole moderator of group that brings together people with widely varying political and social views to discuss “issues large and small”; the group was created at a time when America was extremely divided and the aim was to infuse greater respect and understanding into difficult dialogues and to educate members to be smart, critical consumers of news and other media. Angie facilitates and oversees the discussions, which are sometimes heated and range from economic policy to racial reconciliation, from social justice to family challenges, from personal and historical reflections to ways to build bridges, respectfully, when there is little or no common ground.
